And so I’m back from London now,
still adjusting to life after the high of a Tea Party Club event weekend, which
is so much harder than I’d like it to be. I’m definitely more suited to a
princess life where I have the money without having to work (and I’m sure you
all feel exactly the same). At the same time I still can’t quite believe that I
went there, it seems more like a dream than a reality. Were it not for physical
proofs and the ever growing number of photos, I’d definitely believe that I
dreamt it all.

1 Dress 4 Looks Take 5
I feel that since I started doing
these posts I’ve had so many additions to my Lolidrobe that the first few posts
are now insanely dated. Having said that, these really help me see what else is
it that I’m missing, as that is slowly becoming more difficult to see when
looking at the whole of my collection, especially compared to what was at the
beginning of the year. It will be interesting to see what will I be able to
create by the time I do posts like these for all my main pieces (provided that
I ever stop shopping for long enough for these posts to catch up :P).

Lolita Influences on My Daily Wardrobe
It’s very hard to believe that it’s
been just over 3 months since I ditched wearing trousers in an attempt to get more
wear out of my clothes, break myself out of a fashion routine and test whether
transitioning to a Daily Lolita is something that I could do. It feels like a
lot longer and already just the thought of putting on trousers makes me feel
somehow uncomfortable and somewhat restricted?, can’t think of a better way to
describe it. All of this is undoubtedly thanks to Lolita fashion, and even if
what I wear every day is nowhere near Lolita, it’s had a big influence on my
style recently. How big? Let me tell you!

Bargain Brand Blouses Unboxing
Last week my bargain brand blouses
have arrived and I’ve done an unboxing and mini-review of them. As much as I
like offbrand and Taobao blouses, I’ve been on a lookout for a long sleeve
cotton blouse and for a pink one in just the right shape and shade (the third
one was just too good to refuse), and I wanted to see how brand blouses compare in terms of quality and sizing.
Please, excuse the shakes and the slight choppiness, it was all fine when I was working on it in Movie Maker, so I'm not sure why it did that in the final video. Anyway, I hope you like it!

Dinner and cocktails meet
Saturday was devoted to a small and
casual meet up in Leeds, mainly focused around an early dinner and some
cocktails. Because of how my boyfriend works, I didn’t know if I could go to
this one until a fair bit later, but I’m very glad that I could make it in the
end.

I ended up with a somewhat
Oldschool-ish coord, although that was mostly accidental. I wanted to wear
this JSK from Metamorphose temps de fille because: a) it’s comfy as hell; b) it’s
comfy as hell thanks to full shirring, which means I could comfortably eat
however much I wanted; and c) a plain colour dress, even with this many frills,
felt more casual, although in retrospect it still looks pretty dressy. After working
up quite a sweat ironing it (bloody hell, that bottom tier seemed never-ending)
I proceeded to actually putting together an outfit and realised that none of my
shades of sax match this one. In truth, I realised that none of my shades of
sax match each other, but that’s a
minor detail. I might have to do a more serious re-evaluation of all my sax
items at some point.
We had dinner at Las Iguanas, a
restaurant and cocktail bar serving Latin American cuisine. I’ve had a look at
their menu before, so I already knew what I was going to order (cue food
photos), although thanks to one of the Lolitas having lived in Brazil for a
while, I also had the pleasure of discovering Pao de Queijo, that is Brazilian
cheese bread. Honestly, she had me at “cheese” and “bread”, but then I tried it
– and angels have sung from above! This is some seriously delicious stuff, I
already told myself that I’ll attempt to make it from scratch, since I like
baking bread.

It was such a pleasant evening in
really great company. Smaller meets like this definitely make it easier to talk
to everyone at least a little and get to know your comm better. There were
seven of us, myself included, and with five of us going to at least one day of Wicked
and Whimsy in London at the end of the month (and two even being involved in
organising and running the event), the conversation naturally kept going back
to that topic and how excited we were about it. I honestly can’t wait, my
excitement is like a pot of boiling water, constantly bubbling and wanting to get
out whenever and however possible. This will be epic, I know it!
Cheers! |

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Oh My God! Harajuku Girl
Whether you listen to her music or
couldn't care less about it, it's hard to deny Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's incluence on
fashion, Japanese or otherwise. Similarly, many Lolitas will be looking to
other J-fashions for inspiration or maybe even transitioning to Lolita from
them (or the other way round). If you can read Japanese at least at an about an
intermediate level, then I definitely recommend Kyary's book, there's plenty
for Lolitas and non-Lolitas alike.

Diner Doll + unboxing!
And here it is: the first unboxing
video that I’ve done. I’m so glad that this package from Chibi Tenshi arrived
first – I’m starting my YouTube adventure with a bang and a big brand release
(plus a little extra).
Let me tell you, at one point I really doubted if I’d manage as Movie Maker decided to throw a dickie fit at me – but it’s here, thank God! I hope you enjoy it, and I can’t
wait to coord this JSK in a bit more inventive way than in the video.

What Keeps You Involved in Lolita?
That’s actually a pretty good
question. Why? Because Lolita isn’t like a summer fad, here for a few months
and then over, forgotten, stuffed at the bottom of the wardrobe afterwards. Except
for people who try it out and decide that it’s not for them, whether you’ve
been into the fashion for a month, a year or ten years, there has to be
something a bit bigger than “I like it” for us to get involved with it this
much and this long-term.

Fancy Teas
Whilst it’s not nice to generalise,
it may be safe to say that the majority of Lolitas love their tea. However,
although you certainly can’t beat old classics like English Breakfast, Earl
Grey or green, sometimes you need something a bit more fancy, whether for a
Lolita get together or as a treat for yourself. So I thought I’d introduce a
couple of my favourites.
