1 Dress 4 Looks Take 58

I have a document where I plan out these posts by jotting down bullet points of coord ideas for each dress. Usually I’m very good at adding a dress to that document, so that I remember when its turn comes around - and somehow managed to completely forget my sole Victorian Maiden piece, the Shirring Frill JSK. Fortunately that mistake has been rectified and considering how I bought it to be a sundress, it’s nice to still plan out a few more typically lolita looks to potentially reach for in the future.

Look 1: Classy Classic

| Innocent World Tulle Lace Millefeuille bolero | Baroque Secret Garden tights | Irregular Choice Earl Grey heels | Manda Rin Designs hat with an offbrand flower clip | Violet Fane necklace | Tiny Passerine Creations ring | vintage brooch and gloves |

Is it becoming obvious that I am obsessed with this hat? It’s so beautiful and versatile, it simply has to be included in classy classic lolita coords that are just perfect for sipping tea outside some fancy cafe. Once I put the tights and the shoes down, I realised that there was this suuuper tiny blue accent theme going throughout, so I added a blue rose clip to the hat and the rose to make that a bit more deliberate. It may be too small and get lost in the overall look, but if nothing else then I know it’s there.

Look 2: Lavender Field

| Babysong Lolita blouse | Angelic Pretty Salon de The Rose OTKs | Laura Ashley shoes | vintage hat | offbrand necklace | bow from a Chess Story blouse | Peppermint Fox brooch |

Pink and lavender is a lovely colour combination, which I wanted to try out. The blouse, as well as the dress, would most likely be worn off shoulder, which would make the coord feel a bit more like going to a picnic or at least a garden stroll. Having said this, whilst I like where this is going, the flatlay version feels like it’s missing something, even if I can’t pinpoint what. Equally, this could be fine as is once worn and styled, it’s just one of those.

Look 3: The Princess

| L’Esprit de la Noblesse Le Nuage blouse | Miss Point corset | overdress from Baroque’s Repose of Queen dress | Angelic Pretty Romantic Angel OTKs | offbrand shoes, flower clips and rings | Jeshii Doll bonnet | Enchantlic Enchantilly necklace | Peppermint Fox brooch | Dentelles brooch |

The obligatory OTT coord is going big! Slightly confused in terms of which historical era it wants to be inspired by, but as far as OTT classic lolita is concerned, it’s hitting every beat. For once the overdress is adding a layer and texture without obscuring any prints, whilst the corset adds both definition and a convenient way of hiding however I’d actually decide to attach the overdress.

Look 4: The Mad Hatter

| Metamorphose Swallow Tail Jacquard jacket | Angelic Pretty Toy March OTKs | Deary heels | vintage hat | Dream Masquerade Carnival pin | Amadea Kingdom The Adventurer D4 brooch | Jule et Lily Popcorn brooch | Twinkle Kitty Boutique ring |

Ok, stay with me for this one. This idea went through a few changes, starting out as a “navy and pink looks nice” idea, then morphing into something a bit like the first look, but more quirky and like for Ascot races or something, before landing on this. You do need to imagine it with a pink wig and some bright makeup to get the full effect, and even then I feel like it could do with at least one more accessory that apparently I just don’t own yet. Still, it’s a WIP that’s pretty near being completed and I’m quite excited to find an excuse for it.

At this point it’s uncertain how many of these looks will ever see the light of day. Having said this, not only I’m comfortable with this dress being more of a seasonal item that gets whipped out only every now and then, it’s also a solid piece that can do so much more than just this. No doubts if the right themed meetup or something comes along, new ideas will get superimposed onto this dress to create something different from any of these four. And that is the beauty of solid main pieces.
