1 Dress 4 Looks Take 50

Gosh, have I really done 50 of these posts already… Wow. Hopefully we are reaching this milestone with a good edition of these, featuring another BtSSB name that I have somehow managed to memorise over the years: Soiree of the Beginning of My Memories JSK. With it we’ve actually reached dresses that I have purchased within this calendar year, so I’m really catching up to myself. As well as going a bit back because this print is something I lusted after during my trip to Kanazawa when I admired the green colourway of this cut at the store there. Dear 2014 Paulina, I am living your dream and we will do this dress justice - starting with this post.

Look 1: Vintage Bride

| Infanta overblouse | replica socks | Irregular Choice Earl Grey shoes | vintage hat, jewellery and gloves |

Marriage is not on the cards for me anytime soon and my own plan is to get married in a ‘normal’ wedding dress, but I am still waiting for Wedding Meet to happen with my comm. This could be a solid contender for that meetup: demure and elegant, if requiring a change into more comfortable shoes. But despite the colours in the print this would work beautifully as a wedding dress, don’t you think? And if it happened to be a chilly day, I could easily throw an ivory bolero over this too.

Look 2: A Touch of Brown

| Axes Femme blouse | Innocent World Rose Lace Millefeuille bolero | Innovent World Belle Epoque OTKs | Sosic Shop shoes | Cutie Creator headbow | offbrand necklace and earrings | Le Petit Four ring | Amadea Kingdom The Adventurer D8 brooch |

Speaking of boleros, during the AYWi30C post featuring this dress I said that I wanted to try coording it with brown. This is but one way in which I would go about that, potentially with some changes e.g. an open neckline blouse or short brown boots, depending on the season. Brown is such a great colour in lolita, instantly toning something down without overwhelming the lighter pieces like black would. And every time I realise that I want to get more browns.

Look 3: A Lady of Leisure

| BtSSB Forever Enchanted Midnight Spell bolero | BtSSB Polonaise Brillante OTKs | Laura Ashley shoes | Baroque Repose of Queen headbow | Enchantlic Enchantilly necklace | Violet Fane brooch | vintage brooch |

Something more laid back and comfortable - not quite casual, but certainly more on the ‘wearing this to chill’ category. Even though it’s also nice enough to go to a meet in. Whilst the navy ribbon on the socks matches nothing, hopefully it would be hidden by the dress hem. And if not - it does appear emovable, so I could try that to keep the colour scheme to greens and pinks.

Look 4: Pops of Green

| L’Esprit de la Noblesse Le Nuage blouse | Violet Fane Antiquite tights | offbrand shoes | Jeshii Doll bonnet | Rose of Sharon hair clip | Tiny Passerine Creations The Duchess’ Tea earrings | Puvithel Crystal Heart necklace | Le Petit Four Emerald Palace ring |

Whilst I may have worn this dress with green already, it was lighter shades. And I love me some darker shades too! Generally I’m a big fan of ivory with pops of colour as a colour scheme, it’s foolproof and yields some wonderfully elegant results. If this doesn’t prove that point, I’m not sure what would. Now to find an occasion to wear this…

Unusually for me I stopped at these four outfits, I think the energy wasn’t quite there on the day to put together a backup. Or I just looked at these four and realised that I was happy with them all, no backups needed. Because I am very happy with how these came together, I am excited to wear each and every one of these when the time comes. Which makes this a very successful 50th 1 Dress 4 Looks post, don’t you think?

  1. As a fan of the print I'm clearly biased, but every single one of these coords is simply great.
The first one is super elegant and yes, it wouldn't look out of place at a wedding/themed meetup even if it doesn't seem like the most intuitive choice due to the colours. (I assume the socks are a less 'vibrant' white when worn.)
Sharing your opinion on the second coord. You can't go wrong with brown, especially when it involves this bolero, and the brooch is such a nice whimsical touch!
The bolero in the third one with how cosy it looks is doing it for me too and I'm surprised how well the colours of the OTKs mesh with this dress. Polonaise Brillante is such a strong colourful piece in my mind that I could not imagine any of its accessories (especially the printed ones) to go with something besides it.
I don't know what to say about the last one except that it is certainly very extra? OTT? With so few accessories, it feels almost blasphemous to use that term, however, I can't call a coord with this blouse anything but that. And I bet the earrings from Tiny Passerine really add to that feel when they catch the light. Generally, I can imagine that this one is even more interesting in motion than as a flat-lay.

Definitely a very worthy entry(?) for the 50th 1 Dress 4 Looks post!

    1. Thank you so much! It is such an amazing print and it's always great to find a fellow fan of it <3
The socks in the first coord being mesh would definitely be less vibrant once worn, though I also have a less stark white pair. It just happened to be in the wash as I was taking these photos, otherwise I'd totally use those instead.
I think the reason why those Polonaise Brillante OTKs work is because of the pinks. Like you said, as a releas Polonaise Brillante is a lot more vibrant than this one, but these are just ivory socks with florals on them. And Soiree of the Beginning of My Memories has so many pinks, some of which are really quite bright, which makes it easier to tie in the socks.
And I know exactly what you mean about the last coord being OTT, yet somehow now having that much. It's something that I think about a lot, actually - how we tend to equate OTT to mean "a lot of things". It's the reason I sometimes say that I go OTT in size or volume rather than amount of stuff, but now I guess I'd say that it comes down to depth. Because despite there being fewer pieces than one might think necessary to categorise something as OTT, everything is quite large, as well as includes lots of intricate details, from the drapes of that voluminous blouse to the individual stones on the necklace.
